A Complete First-Floor Bathroom Transformation

We completed another stylish bathroom renovation in a home with a challenging loft-style space. This project showcases our ability to work with awkward angles while creating a modern, functional bathroom that maximizes every inch of available space.

Starting Point

When we arrived on site, the bathroom was already stripped back to basics. The client had arranged for all the old fixtures to be removed and the necessary plumbing work had been completed by their plumber. This gave us the perfect blank canvas to begin our transformation.

Our Renovation Process

Tiling

We installed high-quality light grey porcelain tiles in the shower enclosure area, creating a clean and contemporary look. The tiles were carefully cut to accommodate the sloping ceiling, ensuring a professional finish despite the challenging angles. We also added a splashback tile section above the vanity unit to protect the walls from water splashes.

Flooring

Rather than using traditional tiles throughout, we opted for a luxury vinyl flooring in a stylish herringbone pattern. This water-resistant option provides the beautiful look of real wood with added practicality – it’s warm underfoot, easy to maintain, and perfectly suited for bathroom environments.

Walls and Ceiling

The walls and ceiling were painted in a soft neutral shade that brightens the space while complementing the grey tones of the tiles and flooring. This light colour palette helps make the compact bathroom feel more spacious and airy.

Fixtures and Fittings

  • Shower Enclosure: We installed a modern sliding glass shower enclosure with chrome trim, featuring both a rainfall shower head and a handheld shower attachment for maximum versatility.
  • Toilet: A contemporary square-style toilet with soft-close seat was fitted, positioned to make the most of the available space under the sloped ceiling.
  • Vanity Unit: A sleek white vanity unit with integrated basin and chrome mixer tap provides essential storage while maintaining the bathroom’s clean lines.

Finishing Touches

The bathroom was completed with essential accessories including a toilet roll holder and recessed ceiling spotlights to provide even illumination throughout the space.

The Result

The finished bathroom demonstrates how even awkward spaces can be transformed into stylish, functional rooms. By carefully selecting appropriate fixtures and finishes, we’ve created a bathroom that feels surprisingly spacious despite its compact dimensions and sloping ceiling.

The frosted window allows natural light to flood the space while maintaining privacy, and the combination of white fixtures, light walls, and grey accents creates a timeless look that will stay fresh for years to come.
