Project Overview
This comprehensive bathroom renovation project showcased the transformation of a tired bathroom space into a modern, luxurious suite. The project required a complete strip-out of all existing fixtures and fittings before beginning the installation of premium materials and contemporary sanitaryware.
Demolition and Preparation
Before any new work could commence, we carefully removed all existing bathroom elements including the old suite, tiles, and fittings. This full strip-out was essential to ensure proper preparation of the walls and floor surfaces for the new installation. All plumbing and electrical services were then updated to accommodate the new layout and modern fixtures.
Tiling Installation
The centrepiece of this renovation was the stunning marble-effect porcelain tiling throughout. We installed:
- Wall tiles: Large format 120cm x 60cm tiles laid horizontally to create a seamless, contemporary appearance. The horizontal orientation emphasises the room’s width and creates clean, uninterrupted lines
- Floor tiles: Matching marble-effect porcelain tiles with polished finish, creating continuity between walls and floor
- Built-in niches: Custom-tiled recesses within the shower area providing practical storage whilst maintaining the sleek aesthetic
The grey marble-effect finish with distinctive veining creates a sophisticated backdrop that feels both timeless and thoroughly modern.
Sanitaryware and Fixtures
We installed a complete range of contemporary sanitaryware:
- Corner bath: Space-efficient curved corner bath maximising the available floor area
- Glass bath screen: Sleek frameless glass screen providing splash protection whilst maintaining the open feel
- Wall-hung WC: Modern close-coupled toilet with soft-close seat, wall-mounted for easy cleaning
- Vanity unit: Contemporary grey wall-hung vanity with integrated white ceramic basin, featuring handleless drawers for a minimalist appearance
- Chrome heated towel rail: Stylish ladder-style radiator providing both heating and towel warming
Shower Installation
The shower area features a premium thermostatic shower system with:
- Overhead rainfall showerhead
- Adjustable handset on sliding rail
- Contemporary chrome finish coordinating with other fittings
Finishing Touches
- Ceiling: Freshly painted white ceiling with recessed LED downlights providing excellent illumination
- Mirror: Large frameless mirror above the vanity unit
- Window treatment: Obscured glass window maintaining privacy whilst allowing natural light
Result
The finished bathroom demonstrates how thoughtful design and quality materials can transform a compact space into a luxurious retreat. The neutral colour palette, premium finishes, and contemporary fixtures create a bathroom that feels spacious, modern, and thoroughly practical for daily use.
The combination of horizontal large-format tiles, wall-hung sanitaryware, and carefully planned lighting has created a bathroom that feels significantly larger than its actual footprint whilst providing all the functionality of a modern family bathroom.
